Bill Peeved by Hillary Article

There was a chill in the air last week when ex-president Bill Clinton joined Time magazine's chief editor, Norman Pearlstine, onstage at Manhattan's Time Warner Center to discuss the events of the day.

"There were no pleasantries, no welcoming comments," noted the New York Times. "And at certain points, Mr. Clinton looked peeved."

The reason?

As Clinton waited in the wings with Pearlstine to come on stage, he confronted the media honcho over a recent Time column by Joe Klein, the Times said.

Just days before, Klein had trashed the idea of a presidential bid by Hillary Clinton as a potential "disaster on many levels."

One reason, said Pearlstine's scribe, was Mr. Clinton himself, whom Klein described as a "one-man supermarket tabloid."

Rumors of more Monica-like shenanigans were sure to punctuate any Hillary run, he suggested.

Worse still, said Klein, "Absent any evidence, the former president should be considered guilty until proved really guilty."

No wonder Pearlstine got the cold shoulder from Clinton.
